Character: Flynn
Fandom: Shin Megami Tensei

History: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Flynn
Personality: Flynn is a silent protagonist: he has very few lines in canon, and some major traits of his (such as who he sides with when everything inevitably goes to hell) are chosen by the player. That said, there are some things that are essentially the same no matter what lines or actions the player selects. The first being: he doesn't talk much. This is noted by the NPCs as well as how rarely he's prompted to say something: he's the quiet type even without the game mechanic of 'silent protagonist' at play.

He's also noted to be decisive, and takes the leader position after doing well in the first few missions. There are very few questions he can answer by not taking a position (and he gets criticized when he does) - the rest of the time, it's one way or the other with Flynn, with no regrets. The other samurai in his group look to him when their internal squabbles leave them unable to decide which way to go, and are willing to follow his opinion and leadership. This isn't just because he's the strongest of them, but because they respect that his choices are well thought through.

He can also be a little... silly. His interactions when on the mission are serious, yes, there's no time to mess around when people's lives are on the line. But when recruiting demons he's given choices like offering a demon a dog (when he doesn't have one), throwing up on a demon who asked to be given something, announcing that he's the main character... Demons might have strange ways of logic, but Flynn's clearly indulging his own sense of humor here.

Flynn's far more comfortable around demons than most people who aren't demon summoners are. They're the way he gets by and doesn't immediately die in battle. If that means summoning demons, learning skills from demons, fusing demons into completely different demons - so be it. No matter how strange or unnatural it may seem, it's how he's going to survive, so he gets used to it.
Other: He's starting from early game. Because I could not resist DDD being an app on his Gauntlet.

First Person: 1) Do you believe in fate? Why or why not?
I don't. I think believing in fate would mean giving up a little of my choices to someone or something else, and I don't want that to happen.
2) You find a wallet on the side of the road, but there's no one around. What do you do with it?
I suppose I would bring it to the armory to put the money to use... there's no sense wasting it on the roadside.
3) How do you normally dress? Why do you dress that way?
I wear the samurai uniform, or armor, for the usual reasons: to be proud of my station as a samurai, and not to be killed by a demon.
4) What would you like to be remembered for after your death?
...That whatever I did, I was true to who I was.
5) You're doing some spring cleaning. What is easy for you to throw out? What is difficult for you to part with? Why?
Most trinkets I find from demons are easy to sell or throw away. And really, no one needs that many claws... But I would find it hard to lose anything that came with me from my old life, before I came to the castle.
6) If you were to die right now, what would you have to say about your life? What have you achieved? Would you be content?
-Why now? I became a Samurai but I did nothing with the station. Who could be content with that?
7) If you have any secrets, how far would you go to keep them from being revealed?
I can't think of any terrible secrets... well, Issachar knows a few of mine from childhood, but I know a few of his, so he should never reveal them for fear of revenge.
8) One of your greatest secrets has just been exposed to the people close to you. What do you do?
Admit to it. Trying to cover up just makes me look bad, and won't work.
9) If you had the chance to change any one thing about yourself, would you take it? What would you change?
I'm satisfied with who I am. If I were to become stronger, it would be through hard work rather than... however this question presumes.
10) You're at the scene of a robbery, but you manage to get the upper hand; you're holding the gun. The robber is at your mercy. What do you do?
...Is a gun a kind of sword? In that case, I would bring him to the master Samurai and have them take care of him. 'Tis not my place to bring about justice.

Third Person: When given the chance, Flynn sleeps soundly and deeply. No wonder that the other prentice samurai have gotten in the habit of getting him up in the morning.

He guesses that they may think him lazy- well, Navarre would, and certainly he does not demean himself to come wake him up. Flynn doesn't mind, though. A good night's rest is something to prize.

The countryside is rarely quiet in the mornings. Roosters crow, animals go about their business, and the hubbub starts early. Flynn had chores in the morning, so even if he managed to sleep through the noise, he was chided for it.

In contrast, the barracks of the samurai are a peaceful place, and he can sleep peacefully (strange dreams of burning worlds, endless sand, and his fellow prentices aside) as long as no one specifically needs him to be awake.

There are many, many changes from his life as a Casualry boy to his life as a Samurai prentice, more than just living in a different place and training with sword and demon and fairies living inside the Gauntlet. Not all of them are bad, so why not appreciate the good ones?

This is, maybe, too much justification for why when Walter surprises him in the morning, Flynn throws a pillow at his head. But he can also justify that with helping him train to have quicker reflexes and dodge things worse than pillows. That sounds much better.

...Even so, eventually he's going to have to get up and start the day.
